Skiing in Geneva
Anyone hoping to travel to Geneva, Switzerland to enjoy a skiing trip will find a number of great flight options from UK cities, the difficult part is trying to make your mind up on which resort you should visit.
With so many great options available near Geneva with manageable transfers varying between a little over 1 hour and 4, it can be difficult figuring out where you should go. Of course specific deals on accommodation from resorts will help to make you mind up but here is a quick breakdown of some of the closer resorts should you wish to stay in Geneva itself.
The following 5 resorts are our pick for quick transfer times (all around 1hr) and popularity among winter sports enthusiasts. They are mostly located in the French Haute-Savoie department in the Rhone-Alpes region however we have thrown in one of our favourites at Mont Blanc too. There are a great many more fantastic ski resorts in easy reach if you happen to be staying in or flying into Geneva. All prices and details are correct at the time of writing.
Le Grand Bornand. You can pick up a 4 day adult ski pass for around £95 and there is around 95km of local ski area to explore.
Morzine. 4 day adult ski passes are available here for as little as £85 and there is over 650km of ski terrain to enjoy here and in the surrounding area.
Chamonix Mont-Blanc. How could we not include this wonderful area? Though ski passes are a little more expensive, starting at around £150 for a 4 day adult pass it is well worth it.
Les Gets. Another great resort with great prices on ski passes at starting at around £85 for the 4 day adult pass.
Les Houches. Another short drive from Geneva will get you to Les Houches where a 4 day adult ski pass will set you back around £105.
That gives you a little taste of what you have on your doorstep in Geneva but if you want to travel a little further afield to the like of Paradiski or even visit the famous Three Valleys Ski area they are only around a 3-4 hour transfer away.
Geneva itself is a wonderful European city with fantastic facilities, stunning architecture, wonderful options for food and drink and plenty of accommodation for any kind of trip.
I have only visited Geneva once for a weekend trip and stayed at the Fraser Suites Geneva – http://geneva.frasershospitality.com/. Absolutely loved where we stayed and the city was great too. I have always been hopeful about getting back to sample some of the skiing and I will be able to do that in the future too.
